The State of Idaho
Part of the Pacific Northwest or Cascadian region, Idaho became the 43rd state in 1890. It is divided into Pacific time and Mountain Time. Before European explorers came through the region, it was home to native peoples dating back to 14,500 years ago. The Nez Percé and Shoshone were the most prominent tribes in the area. French-Canadian trappers left their mark on the land in the names of many places, and the area is famous for being explored by Lewis and Clark. Before becoming a state, Oregon was a disputed territory between Britain and the U.S.

Anheuser-Busch has facilities there too. and the town of Lewiston is home to ammunition plants.
Idaho's wide open spaces and mountainous regions are a hotspot for outdoor recreation and tourism. Snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are popular pursuits.
