The State of Kentucky
Kentucky is actually one of four commonwealths in the United States. It entered the Union in 1792 and became the 15th state. It is called the Bluegrass State due to the bluegrass that grows in its fertile land. Kentucky has a diverse topography and ecology, and has many natural resources. Mammoth Cave, the world's longest cave system, is in Kentucky. The state is also home to the biggest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi River.
The state rests in the Upland South. The eastern part of the state is considered part of Appalachia. The state is classified as having a humid subtropical climate and has a lot of rainfall. Winters are generally mild in the state and summers are warm and humid. Fault lines cause occasional earthquakes near the Kentucky Bend, some strong enough to make the river there flow backwards. The state also has occasional flooding and tornado outbreaks.
The state lays claim to having more navigable water miles than any other state except Alaska. Aquatic recreation is popular in the state, with fishing and recreational boating being important to the local economy. The state also has many national and state parks, as well as two National Wildlife Refuges. Reintroduction of elk and wild turkeys were successful in restoring populations that had been nearly extinct in the area for decades.
Kentucky has a diverse culture, and is well known for its bourbon, coal, moonshine, auto factories, tobacco, and bluegrass music. Sports fans can enjoy its college basketball teams and well-known centers of horse racing. Southern food fans can enjoy Kentucky Fried Chicken, which is headquartered there.
Residents in the state of Kentucky enjoy access to all national cellular carriers, but due to environmental conditions or other factors some people may not have full access to decent cellular coverage. If you live or work in Kentucky and are having connectivity issues, it may not be your carrier’s fault. If you need to Boost Your Bars, check out cell phone signal amplifier kits from HiBoost.
